My practical outcomes for this project will include a final video showcasing shot types and a film poster. I know quite a lot about media so far due to me taking a GCSE in media studies, which gave me skills in identifying target audience and dissecting scenes from film and TV such as Doctor Who & His Dark Materials. I hope to develop further skills within the industry and more camera skills in this project. I hope to explore more into the themes of film-making within this project. I will require google sites, the adobe creative cloud suite and a DSLR camera to complete this project
This shot overall went well for me with good framing within the image
This shot overall went well for me with good use of the rule of thirds within the image
This shot is a weaker representation of negative space, due to the large amount of branches on trees in the shot
This comprises all that is seen on screen, such as scenery, properties, costumes, and lighting. This helps directors convey characters' personalities or the mood of the film without necessarily using words.
That is how the camera unfolds the story using various kinds of shots and angles. For instance, taking a shot from a low angle gives an impression of power while a high angle makes the character look smaller.
These are the rules that are supposed to apply to various types of films. For example, horror films will have dark basements and spooky music, whereas Westerns will have vast deserts and cowboy hats.
Each director has his or her own personal style and techniques in film-making. Some rely on fast cuts to create suspense while others use long takes for the same effect.
The context of a movie refers to its background in reality, such as history or culture, whereas the themes of a movie refer to the underlying concepts of that movie. They reflect what the movie is all about.
The overall design of this poster is grid-like or similar to a photo contact sheet, which divides the main content into smaller blocks of images of each of the members of the band in yellow and black tints with thick black outlines around the photo blocks. As opposed to featuring one specific person from the band in various poses, the poster focuses on each of the members and presents them in different poses or while performing live. As for the typography in this particular poster, it is thick and bold, where the images are placed between large letters of the band name, followed by the subtitle and the tagline "the hardest part of ending is starting again," which is a line from the band and which delivers the message of the movie in which the band goes through the process of recovering after the death of their front man, Chester Bennington. The colour palette consists of three colours, including vivid yellow, white, and black background. Overall, this poster is a good way to present many elements visually, as it looks quite organised with the text centred.
The arrangement of this poster is highly dynamic and diagonal in nature. This is because we find the two protagonists in the middle of a fight within the frame. We find the character of Wolverine on the left side of the frame wearing a highly contrasting yellow suit and giving an aggressive look, as if roaring. While his opponent character Deadpool is leaning backward wearing a highly contrasting red suit with a gun in hand pointing to Wolverine’s chin. In this poster, there is minimal use of text, where the main title is placed in the top part of the poster in red and yellow colours while the secondary one is placed at the bottom of the poster in light gray colour.
The design of this poster is intentionally asymmetrical and sparse, allowing the main theme to shift towards the extreme right side, while providing plenty of space left untouched. The character seems tense and fearful like she is hiding from someone or trying to push herself into the wall out of sheer fear, and the hand is visible against a dull background. The text used on this poster is extremely subtle and tiny, placed right at the bottom-left corner in stark white font in order to not distract from the image. The background is mostly made up of cold, ill yellow-green colour. I think that this poster is good at utilising the concept of negative space, with the main subject seeming isolated while having no distracting typography.
In order to create this poster I used the greyscale filter in Adobe Photoshop along with the smart select, layer transparency and move tools to create the multi head effect. I also used the text tool to create the text on the poster
Final Video to be added soon, fell down with real bad flu
